Yachts with Helipad

Yachts with helicopters. Why the owners want a yacht with a helideck?

To have a helipad on a luxury yacht gives a lot of possibilities to the yacht owner. First, you can get to your boat much faster, second, you can get on board while the boat is at anchor off the coast away from a marina.

There are two types of helipads:

  •   Touch and go helipads which do not allow you to take a helicopter with you;
  •   Fully certified helideck, with a possibility to refuel your chopper and carry it with you to any destination you visit.

Some bigger superyachts have helicopter hangars where the chopper is stowed until you need to use it. Having a copter with you is very convenient to an adventurous owner, you no longer need to go ashore by a tender, you can board your chopper and fly to the place which you can reach, only if you fly there. Imagine going heliskiing in 30 minutes after you leave your boat behind. Residing in Geneva and want to be on your yacht which is moored in Monaco? Let your pilot take you there in a matter of an hour!

Romeo United Yachts present the best selection of yachts with pads for a chopper organized by length, year and builder.

Yachts with Shallow Draft

Luxury yachts with shallow draft

Romeo United Yachts explain why it is maybe crucial to have a shallow draft if you own or charter a superyacht.

  • The advantage of a shallow draft is that it allows arriving at coves and harbours that do not have deep water.
  • If your superyacht has a shallow draft, then you can go to, say, Bahamas on your yacht without a need to leave the mothership in deep waters and embark on your tender or a chase boat.
  • Also, the less your draft is, the less is the chance to strike with underwater objects and reefs. Usually, a shallow draft is the feature of a yacht with an aluminium or glass-reinforced plastic/composite hull. If you are looking at the boat propelled by water jets or surface drives, you can be sure it gets this feature.
  • Additionally, if the yacht has these types of propulsion, then there is less gear the boat carries on its bottom, without rudders and propeller shafts.

Many world-renowned yacht builders are building boats that have a shallow draft.

Yachts with Beach Club

Yachts with beach club:

As yacht design evolved over the years, a beach club became a favourite feature onboard a modern luxury yacht superyacht. Earlier designs saw just an openable transom door. The latest trend is to get not only an area at the stern where you can get in and get out of the water but much more amenities such as a hot/cold shower, sitting area and also an onboard pool. On a hot summer day, the beach club is probably the area where the owners and guests will spend most of their time while the yacht is at anchor. The onboard pool is great for the owners with children who can see their small ones enjoying the water in complete safety.
The most recent innovation of the beach club is foldable bulwarks (‘wings’) what allows to enlarge the beach club area to accommodate more people if necessary. Another recent novelty is a pool with a moving floor. It makes it possible to change the depth of the pool. You can make it shallow for small children and adjust it deeper when adults join the youngsters.

Nowadays, all the leading yards have exceptional offerings in their model line-up. You can find the most well-organised beach clubs onboard Benetti Oasis 40, Oasis 34, Mangusta Oceano 43, Mangusta Oceano 50.

Short delivery Yachts

Brand new yachts built on speculation:

We are proud to present the opportunities for brand new boats available for sale with handover in a reasonable time.
We explain the advantages and disadvantages of purchasing a yacht under construction.

Q: Why any buyer should consider a yacht started on speculation?

A: When the buyer chooses to enter the contract for a yacht that a builder starts building on his own, then three important factors come into play:

  • Time - the waiting time is less compared to when a builder starts building a yacht from scratch.
As a rule, the larger the boat, the longer is the waiting time. On average, a buyer of a 40m boat waits two years or even more. If the yacht is 50m/164 ft, this time is three years. That is the reason why the most reputable shipbuilders start building boats ‘on speculation’. That would mean that you can enter the sales contract of the vessel in an advanced stage of construction and get it in a few months, not years.
  • Proven design and seaworthiness - builders choose proven naval platforms, so the future owner knows how the boat will look like and behave.
  • Financial assurance - building a yacht without a client means that the builder invests its own money in the project. Only the brands that are strong financially can allow starting a yacht ‘on spec’. When you sign the contract for a boat partially built, you can be confident that the yard will deliver it on time.

Q: OK, it all looks good, so what is the catch (compromise) here?

A: The possible downside of buying a boat started on speculation is that when you acquire a yacht that was decided by a builder you don’t have complete freedom to change the exterior and the machinery onboard.

If you engage in an early stage, usually, you can make changes to the interior.

Q: What builders build boats on speculation?

A: Financially sound yards, e.g. Amels/Damen, Benetti, Heesen, Sanlorenzo, Mangusta, Tankoa, Baglietto, all have excellent projects in portfolios. These shipyards can start building yachts that a buyer can get in a short time.
