Fibreglass boats mainly replaced wooden vessels starting from the 1960s. GRP or composite hulls are the easiest to maintain. Earlier boats suffered from osmosis that was the worst thing that could happen to GRP boat. However, modern vinylester materials eliminate osmosis.
